Xira Ruiz-Campillo

Xira is a lecturer in International Relations (IR) at the Faculty of Political Sciences (Complutense University of Madrid). She holds a PhD in International Relations at UCM. Her research focuses on European leadership and the role of cities in the international environmental regime, crisis management and the relationship between environment and security.

She is a visiting fellow at the Urban Institute (University of Sheffield) and has done short stays at the University of Chile and the University of Padua. Her previous professional career includes her work in the Field Safety and Security Division at UNHCR’s Geneva Headquarters, and as an analyst at the Spanish Defense Staff (EMAD) and in the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is an Editorial Board Member of the Journal Relaciones Internacionales of the Autonomous University of Madrid.
