Manjana Milkoreit

Manjana Milkoreit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University. Her current research program explores the role of cognition and emotion in global environmental governance, especially in climate change politics. This includes the science-policy-society interface, for example the use of scientific knowledge (esp. concerning climate tipping points) in governance processes, the role of ideologies in advancing or preventing effective societal responses to climate change, and the ability to imagine climate futures based on available science.

She also explores changing conceptions of the Anthropocene and their implications for Earth system governance. Manjana directed the Imagination and Climate Futures Initiative at Arizona State University from 2014 to 2016 and is advancing interdisciplinary research on imagination and transformation. She co-edited a special issue on “Imaginative capacity for transforming to sustainability“ with Michele-Lee Moore (Stockholm Resilience Center). Manjana is an active member of international, multidisciplinary research networks on complexity, resilience and social-ecological systems. She holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Ph.D. in Global Governance from the University of Waterloo.
